Male Gaze

Laura Mulvey comes with the term “Male Gaze”, which basically means how the spectator observes a character (most of them women) from the perspective of a heterosexual male. In the movie Fast and Furious 5, directed by Justin Lin; we have a particular scene where we could see Gisele (Gal Gadot) on a bikini suit, walking away while she is being observed by Han (Sung Kang). This would be a clear example on how the women works as an erotic object for the character in the movie and for the spectator.

The same theory is apply in another Fast and Furious movie. Fast & Furious 7, directed by James Wan. Again we have the same scenario, same outfit but different girl. This time we could see Ramsey ( Nathalie Emmanuel) coming out of the sea and walk toward the beach while she is being watched by Tej (Ludacris) and Roman (Tyrese Gibson) . In both cases the erotic figure of the women is shown as a spectacle for the audience through the “Male Gaze”.
